I had the opportunity to attend the first Azure Government HackFest & Training on June 7 and June 8, 2017 with several of my AIS colleagues (Jonathan Eckman, Nicolas Mark, and Brian Rudolph) and it did not disappoint. This event was a great opportunity for me personally to learn more about Azure and spend some time applying that new information to work on an interesting problem. I know that many of you might be considering attending another HackFest, so I wanted to take some time to tell you about the event and what I learned. I also wanted to give you a few tips if you attend one of these in the future.
Day One started off with a number of training/knowledge-sharing sessions with the Microsoft Azure Government Engineering Team, providing an overview of Azure Gov, Security, Lift and Shift, Azure HDInsight, and Cognitive Services. The information provided was detailed enough that it wasn’t marketing material, but not so deep to be too difficult for general IT pros to grasp. Kudos to those that presented from the Microsoft Azure Engineering Team! Read More…
AIS is proud to announce the selection of Steve Suing, Practice Manager for our Durham, NC office, for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.
ESGR, a Department of Defense office, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.
This award was presented in recognition of Mr. Suing’s support of Colonel Stephan Iacovelli who has worked with AIS since 2013. Colonel Iacovelli enlisted in the Army in 1984 and was commissioned as an Engineer in 1989. He has served in various leadership and staff positions over his 32-year career and is currently the Commanding Officer of an Initial Entry Training Brigade stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC. Read More…

We’re honored to announce that AIS’ own Media Center app won an Appy award for “Coolest App” at the SharePoint MVP Summit 2013. Media Center is a SharePoint app that allows you to integrate your Windows Azure Media Services (WAMS) assets in SharePoint. And we agree that it’s pretty darn cool.
For the second year in a row, AIS is proud to announce our ranking on the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Companies. We’ve grown 47% over the past three years and hired 80 new employees in our quest to best serve our clients. We’re honored to be ranked shoulder-to-shoulder with other great companies and entrepreneurs.
As always, though, we’re looking forward. Just this week, AIS attained our fourth AND fifth gold competencies in the Microsoft partner program, in the areas of Business Intelligence and Application Integration.
This achievement is an important benchmark in the competitive world of Microsoft technology partners. Each gold competency requires five customer references, numerous developer exams and other objectives. Joining our other areas of competencies — Software Development, Web Development, Portals and Collaboration (and the sub-category of Cloud Accelerate) — BI and Application Integration give AIS a well-rounded portfolio of expertise and opens new opportunities in the partner channel, including advisory councils and boards within Microsoft.
According to AIS President Tom O’Connell, “This is a testament to the depth and breadth of our experiences. Even though Microsoft dramatically expanded the type and number of certifications and client references, we have quickly reached five gold competencies with our personnel and projects. We applaud Microsoft setting a higher bar so that we can differentiate ourselves.”
Congratulations to the entire AIS team and everyone who helped make these achievements and recognition possible!
